Carrie Secrist Gallery hosts an interactive conversation between artist Anne Lindberg (whose concurrent exhibition will be on view) and architect David J. Lewis, exploring drawing as a creative form in both architecture and studio art. Lindberg and Lewis both use drawing in a nimble and agile way to further advance their respective mediums. Lindberg’s exhibition presents six monumental abstract drawings with graphite and colored pencil on mat board using her signature systemic, non-representational thin lines. Using a custom-made oversized architect’s drawing board designed by el dorado architects, these artworks are rendered with a variety of colors, from subtle graphite grays to saturated ambers, gold and elements of fluorescence. Her works tap a non-verbal physiological landscape of body and space that provokes strong emotional, visceral and perceptual responses from viewers. David J. Lewis’s work is known for a hybrid and multi-layered approach to drawing and architectural representation.
Carrie Secrist Gallery features contemporary artwork by emerging and mid-career artists who work in a variety of mediums. For more information, please visit www.secristgallery.com
