This celebration will highlight the Homan Square community with tower tours, food, and a tree planting celebration with Homan Rails Urban Farm. Mexico City artist, Pedro Reyes will have a foundry pour that addresses violence by melting guns into shovels. SAIC Tower artist in residence Maria Gaspar and Lavie Raven will highlight their community projects.
SAIC at Homan Square is a platform to amplify what is already there by adding resources and bringing in others. SAIC aspires to use making and design with community organizing in projects for civic engagement.
