A symposium at UIC Chicago will mark the opening of the 2017 Chicago Architecture Biennial with a frank and lively conversation that revives the format of Stanley Tigerman's 1977 conference on “The State of the Art of Architecture." Participants will present historical projects and contemporary projects by their colleagues, and argue how they exemplify ways that architecture can significantly engage and reconfigure history for its time.
