Tigerman McCurry is rooted in the Chicago architectural tradition of innovative design and construction. Its two principals — both FAIA — are native Chicagoans.
Stanley Tigerman received both of his architectural degrees from Yale University. Tigerman has designed hundreds of buildings and installations throughout North America, Europe and Asia; and was selected to represent the United States at the 1976, 1980 and 2012 Venice Biennales. In addition to being an author, lecturer and visiting chaired professor at numerous universities, including Yale and Harvard, Tigerman co-founded ARCHEWORKS, a socially oriented design laboratory and school in Chicago. Tigerman was also a founding member of “The Chicago Seven” as well as the Chicago Architectural Club. He has received Yale’s first Alumni Arts Award the AIA/ACSA Topaz Medallion for Excellence in Architectural Education. In 2012, the Architecture and Design Society of the Art Institute of Chicago honored Tigerman’s lifetime achievements and in 2013, the Chicago Chapter of the AIA bestowed on Tigerman their Lifetime Achievement Award.
Margaret McCurry is the recipient of Honor Awards from both the AIA National and Chicago Chaptes as well as Interior Design Awards from IIDA and ASID. Her projects have been published widely in architectural and interior magazines and exhibited at museums and galleries in the US and abroad. She has lectured at design conferences, schools of architecture and taught design studios. The author of two monographs, Margaret McCurry: Constructing Twenty-Five Short Stories (2000) and Distillations: The Architecture of Margaret McCurry (2011), McCurry is former Chair of the National AIA Committee on Design and has been President of the Alumni Council of Harvard’s GSD, Director of the Alumni Association (HAA), and President of the Harvard Club of Chicago. She currently serves on several boards including the Architecture and Design Society and the Textile Department at the Art Institute of Chicago.
