Cinthia Marcelle & Tiago Mata Machado: Divine Violence
Logan Center Gallery
September 8 - October 29, 2017
Opening Reception September 8

Logan Center Exhibitions (LCE) presents an exhibition by artist Cinthia Marcelle and filmmaker Tiago Mata Machado. Hailing from Brazil, Marcelle and Mata Machado are longtime collaborators, and this will be the first time their works Community (2016) One Way Street (2013) and The Century (2011) are shown together in the US. This program furthers LCE’s core mission to invigorate international contemporary art on the South Side of Chicago by investing in opportunities for emerging artists and connecting them to the university’s top-tier scholarly resources and the vibrant artistic community across the city. The three works on view use staged and abstracted scenes to speak to moments of resistance and confrontation in public space that are pertinent to historical and current socio-political realities in cities across Brazil and across the globe.
