The Chicago Cultural Center

The historic Chicago Cultural Center, located in the heart of downtown Chicago, serves as the hub of activities for the Biennial and the site of the main exhibition. The Biennial will utilize all of the Chicago Cultural Center’s galleries and public spaces for exhibitions and newly commissioned installations. Formerly home to the city’s public library, the building now functions as a thriving public institution. Frequently called the “People’s Palace,” it regularly hosts cultural events and exhibitions.

Visitors to the Cultural Center and Millennium Park will also be able to view James Welling’s Chicago images at a larger-than-life scale, installed on the facade of the building itself. This project is part of A Love of the World, a group of works curated by Jesús Vasallo within the main exhibition that represents some of the most innovative architectural photographers working today.

The Chicago Architecture Biennial at the Chicago Cultural Center is open September 16, 2017—January 7, 2018. The Chicago Cultural Center is closed on Thanksgiving Day (Nov 23), Christmas Day (Dec 25), and New Years Day (Jan 1).
